Congress continues to move like headless chicken

The confusion in the INC leadership was wide open for everybody to watch in the non-stop coverage by the electronic and social media for the entire Sunday, the experienced captain has anticipated the move of Rahul & Priyanka to humiliate him by passing a resolution against Capt Amrinder singh’s leadership by a group of MLA’s in an emergency meeting called on Sunday without keeping him in the loop. The Congress veteran who has seen such situations in the past have cleverly submitted his resignation before the plan works out, not knowing how to play the googly from the seasoned politician, the entire congress leadership went into a series of discussions for the selection of the new CM candidate in hurry against their original plan to play the victory of Navjot Sidhu for couple of days and then bring in a consensus candidate.

As we heard different names spelled out in the media from the so-called sources, Ambika Soni, Sunil Jhakar, Sukhjinder singh Randhawa, Pratap singh Bajwa and Navjot singh Sidhu. The spokespersons of INC were having a tough time to speak to media. there were proposals and rejections happening though out the day, Capt Amrinder singh on the other side was playing on front foot against Navjot Singh Sidhu to prove him an anti-national for siding with Pakistan against his instructions and talked about sidhu’s incompetence during the time he was a minister in his government. As we heard the names in and out by the anchors/reporters/editors, it was evident that the congress thinktank did not anticipate the surprise element from the captain and has no plan B for tackling such a situation which was a clear contrast to how BJP handled the Gujarat transition without noise.

 

A similar situation is brewing in Chhattisgarh between the CM Bhupesh Baghel and senior leader TS Singh Deo who are constantly against each other for CM position and meeting the Delhi leaders for a resolution which is also not worked on. We had seen the public display of strength by Rajasthan deputy CM, Sachin Pilot few months back and the issue is still lingering on with the Delhi leadership taking no action, which may turn things bad to worse for congress if not resolved soon. We have leaders like Jiten Prasada leaving Congress in UP and Telangana PCC chief Reventh Reddy talking to media friends about Shashi Tharoor in a demeaning way, which only shows that Congress high command has lost any grip on the local leadership.

After the name of Charanjit singh Channi was declared, we saw tweets from Sunil Jhakar before the swearing-in ceremony on the selection and timing, simply giving an opportunity to SAD and BJP to question the otherwise first Dalit leader’s selection for Punjab CM post. Having the team broken into Captain’s block and Sidhu’s supporters, will the Congress be able to win the confidence of the people in the state election. What if Capt Amrinder joins AAP or BJP and takes away his core supporters along with him, like Jyotiraditya in Madya Pradesh, will Congress be able to give any fight to the much talked about AAP gaining the ground in rural Punjab. If you make a self-goal and loose Punjab in 2022 , how can they gain the confidence of the other opposition parties for alliance in national elections.

In the states, we hear conflicting messages about state leadership, role of youth leaders and national policy, with no bright points as well for improving the COVID situation in states where Congress directly or indirectly involved. we heard Rajasthan to register child marriages, which is also a strange move by the local leaders. Salman Khurshid saying that Congress will fight UP elections under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi, but no plan when and how she will participate and motivate the cadre. With so many things happing weird, I wonder if the congress is moving like headless chicken.
